Rotational speed torque characteristics and positioning time are different. The positioning distance is short, the stepping motor rotates synchronously according to the pulse signal received, and the torque in the low speed field is large (superior responsiveness when starting/decelerating). For example, the action of the 110mm servo motor will be delayed by the pulse signal (affected by the accumulated pulse), and the torque in the low speed field is smaller than that of the stepping motor. Positioning distance is long, stepper motor in the field of high speed than the servo motor torque is small, servo motor in the field of high speed than the stepper motor torque (high speed performance is superior).
The difference in stop accuracy is large. Because the static Angle error of the stepping motor is affected by the machining accuracy of the pinion, the error tends to decrease when the pinion pitch is 7.2° cycle (because the excitation phase is exactly the same, it is not affected by the stator pinion error). Therefore, when positioning with the unit of 7.2°, the static Angle error also becomes smaller. The precision of servo motor stop position is affected by the resolution of encoder and the precision of encoder and motor assembly. Therefore, if the encoder is only adjusted to high resolution, the positioning accuracy will not improve.
